Governor Mifflin Mountain Bike Team
Youth mountain bike team for boys and girls in 6th grade through 12th grade in the Governor Mifflin School District.

Youth mountain bike team for boys and girls in 6th grade through 12th grade in the Governor Mifflin School District.
Teaching kids the skills needed to ride the trails in a safe and fun environment. We provide an alternative sport to the typical sports like baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. The best part about being on the mountain bike team is that everyone participates and no one sits on the bench! Not only do we enjoy riding the trails, but we also maintain them through our stewardship program.

Everyone is welcome. There are no cuts.
There is no bench warming.
We ride.
Build character, encourage leadership and change lives through mountain biking.
Have massive amounts of fun rolling down amazing trails all over PA. https://www.pamtb.org/

More kids on bikes = changing the world for the better.
Empowering youth to become the best version of themselves: both on and off the bike.

The Governor Mifflin Mountain Bike team was formed in 2023. The first season there was only one rider and one coach. Last season there were 8 riders and 4 coaches. So far, entering our third season, there are 9 riders and 4 coaches.
The Governor Mifflin Mountain Bike team provides an alternative outlet for kids who would like to be involved in a sport, but are not interested in the usual team sports.
The best part about being a part of this team is that there are no cuts, no one sits on the bench awaiting playing time, everyone participates! Kids learn a skill they can use for the rest of their lives. No previous mountain bike experience is needed to be on the team. We are continuously looking to expand our team by registering new riders as well as new adults to become coaches. No prior mountain bike experience is needed to be a coach!
Because we are currently a small team, we practice with our partner team, The Twin Valley Mountain Bike Team. This allows us to share coaching resources as well as allowing kids from both teams to intermingle and make new and lasting friendships!
Registration begins in April, with the season beginning in the early part of July when we start practices. Our practices are Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday mornings. It is not mandatory to make it to all practices like it is for other sports.
Our event schedule kicks off in August with a season opening Adventure ride followed by the start of the racing season. There are 3 state races as well as two conference races. It is not mandatory for a rider to race in order to be a part of the team. That is just another way that mountain biking is more flexible than other sports. The season ends in the latter part of October with a season ending Adventure ride.

The team participates in many programs during the season. The trail stewardship program we are actively involved in is called Teen Trail Corps. As a team we go out to the trails that we ride and we put sweat equity into those trails by doing basic maintenance on them.
Another program the team embraces is GRIT- Girls Riding Together. This program is to recruit female riders as well as female coaches who are under-represented in the sport of mountain biking.
From the team’s humble beginning in 2023 with only 1 rider and 1 coach, the team grew to 8 riders and 4 coaches. Entering our 3rd season the team now consists of 9 riders and 4 coaches. We are happy that we have 2 female riders and a female coach this season. We still want to grow our female contingent of riders and coaches. All of our coaches are volunteers who did not have any mountain biking experience prior to becoming a coach for the team. We all do it to spend more time with our kids as well as getting exercise and enjoying the ride ourselves.
The team operates solely through sponsorship money from local businesses as well as any donations we receive. We are recognized as a club by the Governor Mifflin School District and we do not receive any money from the district. If you are a local business or a person that would just like to help the team get more kids out on bikes, please reach out to us for sponsorship opportunities.
Please check out our generous sponsors below. We could not go out and purchase necessary equipment for the team without the help of our sponsors.
